El NetGear WGR614L es un router que puede funcionar como cualquier otro, pero que además implementa una característica que puede resultar más que interesante para los más avanzados técnicamente: incluye un procesador de 240 MHz, con 4 MB de almacenamiento y 16 MB RAM para ejecutar aplicaciones sobre el router, las cuales pueden ser creadas por el propio usuario o descargadas de páginas web especializadas.

El router como tal es compatible con el estándar 802.11g, goza de protección WEP, WPA, WPA2-PSK y WPS además de otras medidas de seguridad, y tiene unas dimensiones de 175.3x27.94x119.4 milímetros con un peso que ronda los 250 gramos.
